Note: Wikipedia English just mixes everyone together (See Batutut). This article is specifically about the Người Rừng of Vietnam.

The Người Rừng (Vietnamese: "Forest people") are the bigfoot of Vietnam and Laos in the rainforests of Vũ Quang.[1]

Description[]

The Forest People are described much like the American Bigfoot. They are described as being about eight feet tall, completely covered in fur except the knees, feet, hands, and face. Its coat is gray, brown, and black. It is a bipedal hominid who moves either alone or in small clans. It has been sighted looking for food, such as fruits, leaves, and even flying foxes.[2] Loren Coleman proposes that Bigfoot hominids are a remnant of the erect gibbon group or Neanderthal.[3]

Sightings[]

A 1947 sighting by a French colonist refers to the animal as a L'Homme Sauvage (wild man).[4] In 1971, some people reported that the ethnic people captured two Forest People near Dak Lak province. In 1974, Senior General of the Vietnam People's Army Hoang Minh Thao, requested an expedition to find evidence of the Người Rừng, but failed.[5] In the 1970s, professor Tran Hong Viet of Pedagogic University of Hanoi, an expert of the Người Rừng obtained what is considered to be, “first clear evidence of a 28x26 cm footprint”.[2] His finding was reported in 1982.[6]
